The end of the year is the opportunity for a balance. We go through the period, evaluate our successes and failures, we make resolutions for the following year in our minds.

We do that ourselves, ordinary people, but politicians and businessmen as well. The director of a significant South Bohemian Construction company KOČÍ a.s. Ing. Radek Kočí is thinking over the passed year:

“The year 2005 was being a bit confusing at the beginning, the second part turned over to be much better. As I mentioned, this year did not start well for us at all. In January we finished demanding reconstruction of The Cultural House in Písek, we handed it over to the town council with proud and pleasure and suddenly there was a black hole in front of us. The menace for businessmen – lack of orders. We were working on a number of places, but these orders were rather small for us. And we need to employ 200 people everyday! We have never experienced so thrilling six months like that since the beginning of our company in 1990.”

Fortune has changed in summer, when our company won the competition concerning to the third period of the reconstruction of a historical building Malt house in the centre of Písek. We offered the best price and the experience from the previous two periods of the reconstruction. “We have left a part of ourselves in there. We have dug the rock in the bedrock with our own hands, we have isolated a metre- thick walls by a cut with a diamond string, we have secured the static, we have disposed the building of the floods results. We are delighted we can participate in the finishing of the reconstruction and we are looking forward to the establishment of The Centre of illustration for children CIPÍSEK,” Radek Kočí admits.

KOČÍ company workers have changed the roof of The Secondary Nursing School in Písek, they have worked on the third period of the construction of the dumping place in Vydlaby - they have dug and isolated the storage hole, they have taken away clean and storage water and they have built cesspools and drain towers so far this year. “We have reconstructed and insulated the pension Samoty near Písek completely, we have finished 8 terraced houses in Čížová and we have built a multifunctional house there, which was the reason why we were honoured by the award of experts in the competition The Prestigious Construction of South Bohemia PRESTA. This construction was also interesting because during digging the basics the archaeologists found the skeleton of a soldier from the war about the Austrian heritage in the half of the 18th century,” the director Radek Kočí carries on. The company following his name has signed up under the so useful car parking space in the residential area called Portyč in Písek, the football pitch with artificial surface for the town Písek, they have been building the hotel near the sporting area Spartak, they have been finishing the reconstruction of the Culture House in Milevsko and they have found the time for the reconstruction of their own garages following the EU standards. ”The garages are lighter and well-conditioned among others. The working conditions for our employees have become much better now following the standards we are obliged by the quality and ecology certificates ISO 9001 and 14 001,” Mr. Kočí adds.

Besides the orders mentioned above KOČÍ a.s. has worked on the reconstructions and finishing of three social and medical facilities: Social care asylum DUHA, Orphanage and Special Schools in Písek and Children mental home Opařany near Tábor. They hold a special Christmas auction during advent time to raise money for Duha, Opařany, Zběšičky and The Club Krteček for disabled children, their parents and friends. The third annual auction of handicapped children´s products proceeds were worth 130,000CZK.

“Surprisingly, we have finished our own balance successfully this year. We have achieved the second highest turnover in the history of our company, more than 200,000,000CZK due to our multiplied effort,” Mr. Kočí points out. “We have reduced the number of employees a bit and we have increased their proficiency. The quality of human resources and the records have always been our priorities. The most important thing is that the investors of our this year´s orders, e.g. The Basic Schools of E. Beneše and J.K.Tyla in Písek appreciate our work. We would like to thank them as well as all our employees who have participated in our good work this year. The pleasure of effective work – THE PLEASURE TO BUILD WELL – is our credo. We are coming to the New Year 2006 following it,” Ing. Radek Kočí, the director and the chairman of the board KOČÍ a.s. concludes.
